Hudson River School

Go to this painting

When Thomas Cole emigrated from England and began making regular trips to New York City, he viewed the countryside around the area as a representation of the true American landscape, the untouched wilderness that held beauty and promise. Thus began the Hudson River School. It was not a school as we would define it today, but more of a school of thought: a group of like-minded artists that strove to capture the essence of America. These landscapes have stood the test of time and have inspired landscape artists over the years. Look around and see if they inspire you as well. And as always, if you don't see the image you are looking for, contact us. We can still recreate it.
